השתלמות יולי 26׳ - Post traumatic stress phenomena in survivors of critical illness/intensive care

Critical medical illnesses and intensive care are highly stressful for patients (and their family members).  In his talk, Dr Bienvenu will cover what it is like to be critically ill, what is known about long-term emotional distress-related phenomena including post-traumatic stress disorder, and ongoing efforts to improve emotional recovery for survivors (with interventions in the intensive care unit and later).

Dr. Bienvenu is the Judy Yin Shih PhD Professor in Anxiety Disorders and a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he completed his psychiatric training, a fellowship in psychiatric epidemiology, and a PhD in Clinical Investigation.  He has a joint appointment in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.  His clinical research background is in the epidemiology and genetic epidemiology of anxiety and related traits and disorders.  However, in the last 20 years he has collaborated with colleagues in intensive care medicine to understand and improve long-term outcomes after critical medical illnesses.
